House burglar convicted

Property worth $2078 was taken after Alan James Malloch broke into a house in Montreal Street while the occupants were asleep, the District Court was told yesterday. Malloch, aged 20, a labourer, admitted the burglary which took place at 2 a.m. on July 28. He was convicted by Judge Paterson and remanded in custody until today for sentence. Sergeant W. P. Creasey said Malloch got into the house through an unsecured window at the rear.

While the occupants, a man and his wife, were asleep in bed, Malloch took a $lBOO video, a woman’s coat and $77 in cash.
