Cloudy and patches of light rain in the west of the North Island from Wanganui to Wellington, showers elsewhere in the North Island, cloudy and light rain in most of the South Island. District forecasts: Canterbury: North-easter-lies, often fresh in exposed coastal places; mostly cloudy with light rain at times.
Nelson, Marlborough and Buller: Easterlies and scattered light rain.
Westland: Moderate norths easterlies, cloudy with light rain at times.
Tomorrow: Coastal drizzle but fine inland in Canterbury, showers in Nelson, Marlborough, Buller and Westland. Extended range forecast for the South Island till Sunday: Light rain about eastern coasts today, but clearing in Marlborough and Canterbury on Saturday, spreading into Otago on Sunday. However, some rain persisting in Southland and about the western ranges. Light rain at times on the West Coast with winds tending to cooler north-westerlies from Friday, easterlies becoming fine in Fiordland from Saturday.
