Woods still cycling
NZPA-AFP Caen Dean Woods, a member of the Australian quartet which won the Olympic team pursuit gold medal, moved impressively towards retaining his individual pursuit title at the world junior championships here today. Despite the windy conditions, Woods totally dominated his opponents from Japan and Czechoslovakia to record the fastest times of yesterday’s two rounds.
The other semi-finalists are an American, Tim Hinz, and Viacheslav Eskimov and Mikhail, Svechnikov, both of the Soviet Union. Victory in the one kilometre time trial went to the 18-year-old East German, Jens Glucklich, ahead of Craig Schommer, of the United States, and West Germany’s Frank Egner. Darrell Kircher of New Zealand, rated ninth best with a time of Imin 10.543 seconds;
