Nigerian robbers executed
NZPA-Reuter Lagos Seven convicted robbers have been executed publicly by firing squad in the southwestern towns of Uyo and Ekot-Ekpene, the News Agency of Nigeria has reported. Five of those executed had robbed a school headmaster of more than $15,600. The other two had stolen a taxi from its driver.
The executions in Uyo took place in the town’s soccer field where Sylvester Asuquo, one of the condemned men, regularly played. Those shot were the latest bandits to be executed since firing squads began carrying out death sentences against armed robbers in various parts of Nigeria in the last four months
