Member of board aged 16
PA Auckland Bettina Hassall, aged 16, took her seat for the first time on the Auckland Grammar Schools’ board of governors on Tuesday evening.
Miss Hassall was elected several weeks ago after saying that she stood because she felt there was a place for the voice of youth on the board. The Auckland Girls’ Grammar School pupil, as a parents’ representative on the board, will be expected to sit on any committees convened for teacher appointments, disciplinary hearings, or suspensions of pupils at her school.
