Social Advisory Council to stay
Wellington reporter A former National Minister of Education and High Commissioner in London, Mr L. W. Gandar, will remain as chairman of the Social Advisory Council for the Government. The Minister of Social Welfare, Mrs Hercus, said she had been impressed by the council’s work since it was set up 21 months ago, and by Mr Gandar’s key role. She had asked him to continue as chairman and for the other council members to continue their terms of office. The council is the Governent’s chief advisory body on social issues, and also coordinates social services through liaison with the 40 district councils of social service.
