Stokes wins round
Brian Stokes, of Waikuku, driving an Escort RSIBOO, won the North Otago Car Club’s regional round of the national rally championship last Saturday. He beat the pre-rally favourite and series leader, Inky Tulloch, of Mataura, by winning five special stages to Tulloch’s four. The remaining stage was won by Andy Neil, of Oamaru, driving an Escort
RSI6OO, making it a clean sweep for the übiquitous Escort RS model. Another favourite, Barry Robinson, of Wyndham, retired his Vauxhall Chevette on the first stage of the rally.
