Countrywide rates
; Countrywide Building Society has increased deposit account interest rates. The top rate is now 15 per cent for 18month and two-year deposits. Previously they were 12.75 per cent and 13 per cent respectively. Countrywide's chief executive, Mr Peter Martin, said the higher rates were to maintain relativity with other financial institutions. Other deposit accounts are up from Vz per cent to 2% per cent.
