Youth remanded over stabbing

A youth charged with attempted murder was remanded in custody to August 13 for the taking of depositions, when he appeared before Judge Frampton in the District Court yesterday. Peter Anthony Jackson, aged 17, a burger bar assistant (Mr E. Bedo), is charged with attempting to murder Gary Peter Ashworth on July 12. The charge arises out of a stabbing incident during a fight at the Riccarton Mall.

The complainant, who is in hospital, suffered serious stab wounds. 36 CHARGES No pleas were entered by a solo parent facing 36 charges of fraud involving property worth $5393. Sonia Vae Vae Marsters, aged 23 (Mr M. J. Knowles), was remanded on bail to August 1. Marsters is said by the police to have committed the offences between December last year and April. Groceries, air travel,

clothing, liquor, and furniture, are among the goods and services alleged to have been obtained by Marsters. DEPOSITIONS Trial by jury was elected by a man charged with committing bigamy. Alfred John Oldham, aged 36, unemployed (Mr P. N. Dyhrberg), was remanded at large to August 10 for the taking of depositions. He is charged with going through a form of marriage with Tara Tawhiti Mairoa

Jolley on May 20 while already married, thereby committing bigamy. CHARGE DENIED A charge of, possessing cannabis leaf was denied by Grassford Lee Crickett, aged 25, a beneficiary (Miss E. H. B. Thompson). On his previous appearance at court Crickett was granted bail of $4OOO after the Judge was told that 75 grams was involved. Bail was renewed. He was remanded to September 6 for a defended hearing.
