Lamb prices

Sir,—“The Press” article, “Lamb price drop likely” of July 21 said: “As a result of New Zealand’s devaluation, some New Zealand exporters were offering the product at lower prices.” This country’s farmers and taxpayers cannot afford to sanction this irresponsible exporter attitude when the full flow-on effects of devaluation are required just to wipe out S.M.P. payments on lamb, with little chance of an increase in schedule to cope with the inevitable rise in input costs.—Yours, etc., BEN ENSOR. Rangiora, July 22, 1984.
