Garden doctor clinics in Christchurch
The first of the “Dig This” garden doctor clinics held in the Burwood School Community Hall in Christchurch will screen on Two at 1 p.m. on Saturday. Eion Scarrow and Professor John Walker are joined in the programme by Ernie Rodgers, a horticultural judge who presents a gardening show on Radio 4Rhema ip. Christchurch. The three answer questions from Canterbury gardeners on
raspberries, brassicas, longstemmed roses, kiwifruit and gerberas. The guest panellist at the second of the Christchurch clinics (on August 4) is Kevin Garnett, the keeper of Hagley Park. Topics are parsnips, thugia orientalis, black currants and pot plants.
The third and final Burwood clinic (on August 11) is about flax, worm casts on lawns, orchids and gooseberries. The guest panellist is John Taylor, a senior lecturer in horticulture at Lincoln College and the moderator of the examining board of the Royal New Zealand Institute of Horticulture.
