Water use theme for week

PA Wellington Water is the theme of this year’s Conservation Week, which will begin on July 30. Each New Zealander uses about 250 litres of water a day, the co-ordinators of Conservation New Zealand say. Water used by industry, agriculture, and sewage treatment plants brings total use to four million cubic metres. Conservation Week aims to draw attention to the need to save water, the coordinators say.

A rapidly growing population and more industry has led to increased demands for water.
