Cricket almamacs sold to Australian

PA Wellington An Australian book dealer spent $3600 on early New Zealand cricket almanacs at a Wellington auction recently. The books, a collection of Wisden cricket almanacs, ranged from 1879 to 1983, with an index from 1864 and 1943. The books, from the

estate of Mr Arthur Carman, also included rugby titles. Mr Carman was a prominent Wellington rugby and cricket writer, and one of the longest serving members of the Wellington Hospital Board. He died in 1982. A 1908 book, “British Rugby Team in Maoriland,” and “The Triumphant Tour of the New Zealand Footballers,” fetched $6OO.
