Drop for Corso?
PA Wellington Corso expects a 10 per cent drop in this year’s annual appeal total, based on results to the end of June. Income received by that date was $293,246, compared with $326,271 at the corresponding time in 1983. The national co-ordinator of the appeal, Mr Derek Wallace, said he thought Saturday morning sport and shopping had taken a greater toll than usual this year because of the fine weather on June 9 when the appeal was held. He also blamed the tight economy for the lack of spare cash and the late delivery of appeal envelopes caused by the Cook Strait rail ferry freight dispute.
