Hospital art
Sir,—The Victorian Beach Scene by Peter Ransom, and the excellent mural under way at Burwood Hospital by Bianca van Rangelrooy and Marion Beattie shown in “The Press” on July 16, inadvertently had the artists’ names omitted. We are grateful to Mr Hurrell for drawing our attention to this oversight At other times this committee has acknowledged the help and support gven freely by Gary Colliris, John )ley, director of the Robert McDougall Art Gallery, Nola Barron of the C.S.A. Gallery, and Miles Warren as an art adviser. Without these people and the Christchurch artists listed, our committee could not have begun its task to improve the decoration of the public areas of our hospitals. This is the first programme of its kind in New Zealand to use local artists in the healing processes and we have appreciated the help of: Michael Armstrong, Grant Banbury, Rudolf Boelee, Gary Collins, John Dean, Gennie de Lange, Paul Johns, lan Loughlin, Audrey Parker, Wilhelmus Ruifrok, and Edward Walton. — Yours, etc., D. W. BEA VEN, On behalf of the Aesthetics and Murals Design Committee of the Canterbury Hospital Board. July 18, 1984.
