Wheat Board changes
The appointment of a full time field officer has led to some changes in positions and responsibilities among executives of the Wheat Board. The deputy chairman of the board, Sir James Stewart, announced the changes this week. The field officer service, which was introduced six years ago as a pilot scheme in the Canterbury area and which was subsequently expanded to include the other provincial areas, has operated through the board’s wheat supply officer, Mr J. M. Christie. It has now been decided to provide wider coverage in this area and Mr J. M. Christie has been appointed to the position of field
officer on a full time basis. Mr J. Fisher, who was previously wheat accountant, will assume responsibility for the wheat supply officer duties, and to facilitate this reorganisation, Mr A. I. Hay has been apointed to the position of administration accountant. Mr J. S. Mitchell, currently chief accountant, will become assistant general manager with particular responsibility for financial and field activities. Mr A. M. Pearce, currently assistant general manager, will become deputy general manager, with particular responsibility for branch office, and for wheat, flour, bran and pollard supply operations.
