Top Coast dairy farm
The West Coast Dairy Farmer of the Year Award was announced this week at the West Coast Dairy Conference. Mr Bill and Mrs Marg Hart, who farm at Totara Flats, were presented with the Noel Huddleston Memorial Trophy by Mr Colin Moir, manager of the Hornby branch of Ravensdown Fertilisers, the sponsor of the competition. The Harts farm 59 hectares producing 330 kilograms of milkfat per hectare, giving a surplus of $BOO per hectare. The competition was judged on production efficiency by advisers from the Lands and Survey Department, MA.F., the Dairy Board and the Rural Bank.
