U.K. rejects Right
Britain has rejected a call by European members of Parliament for Britons to drive on the right-hand side of the road, the “Daily Mirror,” reports.
The members of Parliament had launched a big campaign to force Britain to come in line with other countries, the paper said. Their leader, Horst Seefeld, of West Germany, chairman of the Parliamentary transport committee, was quoted as saying “Countless holidays end in tragedy every summer because of confusion over driving on the other side of the road.” But Britain had said that driving on the right would cost billions of pounds , A British spouesman tn Brussels told Europe immediately, “The Government will not accept it,” the “Mirror” said.
