NZPA-Reuter London The New Zealander, Martin Crowe, helped the holders, Somerset, to the quarter-finals of the Natwest cricket trophy with a fine all-round performance at Hove yesterday. Crowe struck 114, for his first one-day century, against Sussex as Somerset reached 288 for three. Then he grabbed two Sussex wickets for 29 as the home
side struggled to 220 for nine with the England allrounder, lan Botham, weighing in with three for 35. In other second round games, there were centuries for Botham’s England teammates David Gower and Graeme Fowler, Northamptonshire pace bowler Neil Mallender, who played for Otago last summer, took seven for 37 in the defeat of Worcestershire.
