Gaimoss thriving

Special correspondent Palmerston North Gaimoss has taken no harm from racing at Trentham and she looked in fine fettle in her final trial for the Taumarunui Cup at Awapuni yesterday morning. Grant Cooksley will ride the mare in the feature event at Waipa tomorrow. Gaimoss won the Parliamentary in fine style but she was bogged down by a big weight in the testing ground on the last day. She has thrived since and a top run would be no surprise this week-end.

Gaimoss galloped on the inside trial which provided good footing. She was always going well and completed her 1000 m in Imin 7.45, the last 600 m in 40.45. She ran a good race righthanded in the New Zealand Handicap at Avondale recently so this aspect should not worry her. Tredici and Cuchulainn ran from the 1200 m in Imin 255, the last 600 m in 435. Tredici could run a good race in the Winter Cup trial. He has freshened nicely since he last raced. Nalu- and War Drums ran 1200 m in Imin 275, the last

600 m in 435. Nalu has done, everything right since Trentham and will be hard to beat tomorrow. Diamond Raider completed 1000 m in Imin 9s, the last 600 m in 425. He is close to his best for the Carnarvon Handicap at Awapuni tomorrow. Cumberland did. good work from the 800 m in 525. The last 600 m in 38s, which was as good as anything yesterday. He was a shock failure at Hawera last week but the ground could have tripped him. He will get another chance at Otaki next week.
