Man admits charges of indecent assault

PA Auckland A primary school headmaster has admitted charges of indecently assaulting 12-year-old girls and permitting them to do indecent acts on him. The man’s name was suppressed when he appeared before Judge Blackwood in the District Court at Auckland. The Judge convicted him on five charges and remanded him to August 1 for a probation report and sentence. The headmaster pleaded guilty to two charges of indecently assaulting two girls aged 12, and three charges of permitting them to do indecent acts on him.

Sergeant Stephen Lamont said that in 1983 the man

met one of the girls through her elder sister.

On July 16 last year he drove the 12-year-old to his home and they got into bed. The girl was a willing partner and he paid her $3O. The next night she got in touch with him, and his suspicions about her age were confirmed. He became aware she was an intermediate school pupil. In October the girl 'again approached him and said she and a girlfriend needed money. He met them and the two girls got into the back of his vehicle and began sniffing glue. They parked a short time on One Tree Hill where he indecently assaulted one and allowed her to do an indecent act on him. They

drove to a beach where he permitted both to perform oral sex on him. He gave them $3O to share between them and told them not to tell anyone as he would be in trouble. They both later got in touch with the man but he refused to see them and told them not to contact him again. The police spoke to him and he admitted the incidents but said he did not have full recall. He said he had been depressed and unhappy at that time and realised his actions had been very stupid. The man was allowed bail and the Judge said he had suppressed his name only until sentencing. It would then be up to that Judge to decide.
