U.S. refuses
The president of Sinn Fein, the legal political arm of the outlawed Irish Republican Army, has been refused a visa to enter the United States. The United States Consulate in Belfast said that the visa application of Gerry Adams had been rejected because of Sinn Fein’s public support for the LRA. terrorist campaign and his own advocacy of violence. He had applied for a visa to enable him to speak at an IrishAmerican convention of the Ancient Order of Hibernians in Albany, New York, this month and also to speak in California and Philadelphia. — Belfast.
