Bomb link with spies alleged

NZPA-AAP Canberra Australia’s domestic spy network, the Australian Security Intelligence Organisation, could have been responsible for the Hilton Hotel bombing in Sydney six years ago, said a former Australian Labour Party national secretary, Mr David Combe.

Mr Combe, whose relationship with the Soviet diplomat, Mr Valeriy Ivanov, was at the centre of last year’s hearings by the Hope Royal Commission into A. 5.1.0., made the claim in the first edition of “Limestone Review,” a new community newspaper.

Mr Combe said the recent decision by the New South Wales Attorney-General, Mr Paul Landa, to take no action against two Ananda Marga members for the bombing showed he apparently believed they had nothing to do with it.

New attention should therefore be given to the views of Constable Terry Griffiths, who was injured in the blast, that A.5.A.1.0. was responsible for the bombing, Mr Combe said. A policeman and two garbage collectors were killed in the blast outside the Hilton Hotel in February, 1978.
