Indoor bowls wins to Hornby W.M.C.

Hornby W.M.C. had considerable success in the national combined Workingmen’s Clubs indoor bowls championships in Invercargill recently. The club won the fours and the singles titles. The four, comprising Rick Cosner, Tony Thrower, Ross McCutcheon and Noel Tomlinson (skip), beat an Invercargill combination, 15-5, in the final.

McCutcheon then completed a highly satisfying tournament by taking the singles title, beating Peter Logan, of Woolston W.M.C., in the final, 10-5. It was his second consecutive singles crown and gave him his fifth national title, qualifying him for the prestigious Gold Star.
