’Copter forced down

Two men whose helicopter had been forced down by fog in Fiordland National Park prompted a search early this morning. The men, Mr Jim Kane, of Manapouri, and Mr Geoff Still, of Lindis Pass, went on a deer-recovery trip in the park yesterday from Manapouri.

An R.N.Z.A.F. Friendship from Wigram air base was sent late last evening to search for the Alpine Helicopters’ Hughes 500, but returned at 1 a.m. when the men were found.

They had landed their "’’craft at the Borland Saddle

and walked out to Borland Lodge, on the border of the park.
