Sumner team on target in squash

Vistalite Sumner I stayed on course to win the Blank Trophy by beating Burnside H, 10-0, in the latest round of the New Zealand Permanent men’s division one inter-club squash competition. The four Sumner players showed no mercy and all won in three straight games. A New Zealand junior, Steven Wren, extracted his revenge on Sean O’Brien (Burnside). O’Brien had beaten Wren in the boys’ final of an open tournament at the week-end, but Wren won on this occasion and conceded only nine points. The top Sumner II player, Paul Monk, had a good win over Lawrence Skurr (Old Boys) in five long games, while the seasoned Marist No. 1, Lyn Sparks, also had to go to five games before bettering the youthful Mark Crosbie (Bumside I).
