Daewoo GM-H car likely

Korea’s Daewoo Corporation, which has been assembling Holden Commodores and fitting them with Opel-designed 1.9-litre fourcylinder engines for some years, may build an Opeldesigned small car for General Motors-Holden within the next two or three years.

GM-H intends to increase its involvement with Japan also, from all accounts. The Australian company has been reported as sourcing its Holden Camira from Isuzu Motors, Ltd, of Japan. It is believed that Isuzu’s Aska will be sold in Australia and New Zealand as the Holden Camira. It is likely that the first examples of the new model will reach New Zealand within the next few months.

The Aska comes in 1.8 and 2-litre versions, each with five-speed gearboxes. Whether Trentham-based General Motors will assemble and market both models remains to be seen.
