Bus fleet scrapping costly

PA Auckland The final cost of scrapping Auckland’s trolley bus fleet three years ago is likely to be nearly $4 million. When the decision to abandon the service was made the Auckland Regional Authority estimated the cost at $500,000 to $1.6 million. The final cost is now put at $3,698,000. Wellington bought 20 trolley buses for $3.1 million and nine are now in service. The A.R.A. claimed it would save $6 million by not going ahead with the trolleys.
