Hagley Park tee

Sir,—Last Saturday, walking through Hagley Park, I took the path leading to Harper Avenue. A short way along is the No. 7 tee, which is 10-15 ft from the path. There were several people waiting to tee off. I stopped and waited, just to be safe. Two men walked up the path at the same time as someone teed off. He gave the ball a very strong hit, the ball veered off to the right and there was a crack. One of the men ducked and put his hand up to his head. All watching thought he had been struck by the ball. But fortunately the ball had passed between him and his companion and had hit a marker stick on the other side of the course. I feel the position of the No. 7 tee, so close to the path, is very dangerous. I am concerned that someone will be seriously injured. — Yours, etc., GRANT YOUNG, Dempsey. June 8, 1984.
