Torvill and Dean on One Tonight
A special programme featuring Jane Torvill and Christopher Dean, the icedancing sensations of the Winter Olympics, will be screened on One today at 7 p.m., replacing an episode of “Fame.” The show features a gala performance at the Richmond Ice. Rink in London and was the ice-skaters’ thankyou for the assistance they had received during their amateur career. This farewll performance was the couple’s last amateur show before their recent professional tour of Australia. Among the guests was the Prime Minister, Mrs Thatcher, whilst the performers included Barbara Underhill and Paul Martini, the pairs champions from Canada, and the American ice-dance champions, Seiburt and Blomberg. The highlights of the show are Torvill’s and Dean’s routines from their titlewinning performances over the last three years. Included are “Mack and Mabel,” “Barnum,” “Bolero” and the famed cape dance.
