DIY divorce
NZPA-Reuter Miami A “do-it-yourself” divorce procedure devised by the Florida Bar and approved by the State Supreme Court takes effect today. Couples with no dependent children and no disagreements about how their belongings and debts are to be divided may now go to a Circuit Court and sign papers for a "simplified dissolution of marriage.” After payment of costs, a Judge will grant a divorce after a minimum waiting period of 20 days. To prevent abuse of outsiders. at least one of the partners must have been a Florida resident for at least six months.
