Import curb on jackets
PA Wellington The Trade and Industry Department is examining the importing of casual quilted jackets after requests by local manufacturers wanting greater protection. The Minister of Trade and Industry, Mr Templeton, said he had told the department to suspend issuing tender licences for
jackets and blazers. The matter was now being examined on an indus-try-wide basis and a detailed report was expected soon, said Mr Templeton. He said a further announcement on 1984-85 tender licences would be made as soon as the Government had decided whether increased protection was justified.
