Ice-skating to start
The ice-skating season will open at Lake Ida today, according to the president of the Lake Ida Winter Sports Association, Mr Bert Lyttle. Mr Lyttle said that there would be skating on the rink and the enclosure. The ice was up to 9cm thick and the
surface was smooth. The 1983 ice-skating season also opened on Queen’s Birthday week-end, Mr Lyttle said. At 4 p.m. yesterday the air temperature at Lake Ida was minus 3deg C and the ground temperature minus Bdeg C. The weather was clear and calm.
