Latimer Lodge extensions
The framing of new $1.5 million extensions to the Latimer Motor Lodge rise behind the owner, Mr Peter Knight sen. A builder by trade, Mr Knight is doing the construction with the assistance of his son, Mr Peter Knight jun., and three workmen. Work began in March and is expected to be completed in October.
The four-storey motor hotel will be increased from 29 bedrooms to 53 bedrooms. There are two dining rooms, two bars, a conference room, a spa pool, and an enlarged reception area. The existing bedrooms are all being enlarged. All that remains of the former twostorey building is a block wall and a front window unit.
Mr Knight sen., well known for his speedboat exploits, originally bought the land in 1969 and started with a 17-room motel unit. The second storey was added in 1977.
