Courier Flight in good order
Special correspondent Dunedin Courier Flight looked in good order when he worked at Wingatui on Thursday morning, firming in favour for the second leg of the Otago Racing Club's T.A.B. double today. Courier Flight partnered Briny Girl over 800 m in 555, the last 600 in 41.9 s on a slushy sand track. A brother to the ill-fated Bell Flight, Courier Flight has been in fine form in recent weeks and he was a last start winner at Gore. Rock Crystal worked over a round on the sand then jumped three steeplechases fences on the course proper with swift sure leaps. He is in top order for the Otago Steeplechase on Monday. Decieboy and Leisure Lass ran 1000 m in Imin 7.85, the last 800 in 54.8 s and 600
in 41.85. Decieboy could be sharper for his race at Oamani last week, when he was making a fresh start. Seafarer and King Kaka covered the same ground in lmin 7.45, the last 800 in 54 3. Wild Native, Taranto and Mill Creek covered 800 m in 54.55, the last 600 in 40s. Wild Native appeared to have the edge. Kiwi Boy, the BalmerinoLa Masquerade two-year-old colt trained by Jim Pankhurst for Ces Wallis, partnered Haughty Bijou over 600 m in 41.65. Haughty Bijou is a halfsister by Noble Bijou to the good Sydney winner, Velitari, in the stable of Brian Anderton and Graeme Offen. Impala will wear blinders today. Roxburgh Red and Graikos will race without blinkers.
