Stallion for Otaio
PA Wanganui Fan Letter, the first son of the champion American racehorse Secretariat to be imported to New Zealand, will take up stud duties at Mr Ray Knight’s Woodfield Stud at Otaio, near Timaru, this spring. Imported by a South Taranaki lawyer and bloodstock agent, peter McKenzie, Fan Letter is closely related to New Zealand’s top stallion Noble Bijou. Secretariat, by another champion racehorse and sire, Bold Ruler, was an outstanding racehorse, winning the United States Triple Crown and earning SUSI. 3 million from his 16 successes. Fan Letter, foaled in 1977, won four races over six to nine furlongs and earned ?USIIB.OOO.
