Weaver wins award
PA Wellington Wellington artists took out both $750 A.N.Z. Bank 1984 Awards for Fabric and Fibre Art at a presentation at the New Zealand Academy of Fine Arts. The award-winners were .Judy Patience, a Stokes Valley weaver, and the Fabric Art Company, a
group of seven Wellington women. Mrs Patience, a weaver since 1989, has won several important fabric awards including the Reserve Bank wall hanging competition in 1971 and the Handweaving Unlimited Award in 1983. The Fabric Art Company was formed in 1981 to promote fabric art by women working from home.
