Volcano erupts
The largest volcano on the Asian continent, Kluchevskaya Sopka, on the Kamchatka Peninsula, has erupted and sent a cloud of ash and gases into the atmosphere, the Soviet news agency, Tass, reports. The eruption had sent molten lava cascading down the side of the 4850-metre volcano and formed a 300-metre cinder cone in the centre of its crater. Kluchevskaya Sopka is one of the world’s most active volcanoes and last erupted a year ago. Tass said that two other volcanoes on Kamchatka, in the Soviet Far East, were also active. — Moscow.
