Travels continue
A multiple sclerosis victim and fund raiser, Mr Allan Hooper, with his dog, Wanda, outside the Christchurch Central Veterinary Clinic yesterday. Wanda developed a liver tumour while travelling with Mr Hooper for the last 14 months on a multiple sclerosis fund-raising trip from Kaitaia to Bluff. The tumour was removed free of charge, by Mr Murray Pringle, a veterinarian sur-
geon at the clinic, as a gift to the fund-raising venture. Mr Hooper has raised more than $17,000 and will pass through Kaiapoi today on the return leg of his journey to the North Island.
Mr Hooper is also accompanied by a large Newfoundland dog, Sable, which attracts crowds of admiring children wherever they go. The dogs have been offered many gifts from well wishers over the last few months, including roses and chocolates. These were politely declined, but a gift of fillet steak yesterday was accepted and Wanda received her share last evening after the operation.
