G.B. struggles to win
NZPA Sydney The Australian media has given the British rugby league tourists the heave-ho after they struggled to a last-gasp two-point win against a scratch Riverina side in their second tour match. The tourists, who go on to New Zealand after the Australians have finished with them, have been generally rubbished for their perform-
ance, and one paper has described them as the “Milky Bar Kids” while another said they were “a bunch of fresh-faced kids in need of a miracle.” The Great Britain side won 22-18 at Wagga in New South Wales after trailing 14-18 at half-time, and league supporters are licking their lips in anticipation of what will happen when the tourists arrive in Sydney later in the tour.
