Incompetence theory wins
NZPA-Reuter Paris The Canadian inventor of the ‘Peter Principle," winch says that in a hierarchy individuals tend to rise to their level of incompetenence, has been awarded the humourists’ equivalent of the Nobel prize. Laurence Peter, a Canadian professor, said in accepting the award, “In my search for truth and competence, I have never been
sure whether the world is run by idiots who are sincere or wise guys who are trying to put us on.” The best-selling author, whose book has been translated into 39 languages, was given the award by the Association for the Promotion of Humour in International Affairs. His prize was a 100-year-old first edition of “The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn.”
