Equitic. opens office
Equiticorp Holdings, Ltd, the latest finance company to float to the public, was now fully operational, said the chairman (Mr A. R. Hawkins) at the opening of the company’s Christchurch office yesterday. The company’s public share issue was heavily oversubscribed, and applications would have to be scaled down severely. It would not even be possible to give everyone 200 shares, the minimum parcel, he said. In spite of this the company would have more than 20,000 shareholders, and the founders were agreeably surprised at that number, which made it the fourthlargest share register in New Zealand. The Government had treated the new company quite reasonably in allowing it lending growth of double its ordinary share capital, to $40,000,000.
