Collett to test bruised leg
Special correspondent Dunedin Jim Collett will decide today if he is able to fulfil riding engagements at the Oamaru Jockey Club's meeting tomorrow. Collett has not ridden track work since he bruised his right leg when unseated from Danseuse Etoile at the start of her race at Gore on Monday. Collett has been receiving physiotherapy. "The leg has improved since yesterday and I hope to get on a horse tomorrow. I am quite hopeful that I will be able to ride on Saturday." said Collett yesterday.
He'has been engaged for Johnny's Pal. Sir Fox.
Sonntag, Puff’s Angel, Have A Shot, Aliway, Double Chivas and Imperial Nip. Seafarer, which ran a bold race fresh-up for fourth at Gore on Monday, will bypass the Norwood Handicap at Oamaru. Lord Venture gave a sound display over three steeplechase fences at Wingatui yesterday morning. He fell at Gore on Monday and was given the bout by his trainer. Brian Anderton, to restore his confidence. Wild Native had the edge on Mill Creek and Taranto at the finish of 800 m in 51.6 s on the sand. Red Note and Double Gem were schooled down the jumping race.
