Offensive to true followers
Maureen Sudlow: I am very saddened by the views of Professor Geering. I acknowledge the right and inevitability of all men following their own religious paths, but to call his particular set of beliefs Christianity can only be offensive to those who truly follow Christ.
His implication that no person of intellect could accept the Christian truths denies the beliefs of such great Christians as C. S. Lewis and Tolkein. His rationalisation fails when he denies Biblical authority in one breath and then quotes it to reinforce his own arguments. I pray that he will refrain from calling himself a follower of Christ. He should remember that Christ said, “I am the way, the truth and the life.”
