Socred changes strategy
PA Tauranga The Social Credit Party will open its election campaign at Tauranga. The party president, Mr Stefan Lipa, has said at Tauranga that the party had decided to switch the televised opening from Hamilton to Tauranga for several reasons. “We believe Tauranga is a very winnable seat for Social Credit,” he said. “We intend holding nationally important functions in electorates we can win.” Mr Lipa said that the annual conference of the party would be held in Wanganui.
The election date would influence the date of the campaign opening, said Mr Lipa, and the party leader, Mr Bruce Beetham, would cover party policies then.
