The Director of Personnel is the senior personnel executive for the New Zealand Fire Service who will control all personnel and related functions and will be the chief adviser on personnel matters to the Fire Service Commission. Duties will include the general oversight of all personnel functions; development, implementation and review of all personnel policies; development of training policies; oversight of medical and superannuation policies; maintenance and review of personnel information systems and staff establishments and gradings; oversight of Industrial relations and the formulation of policies as required; management of career development policies; administration of honours, awards and commendations and any other personnel related duties as required. The successful applicant will also be required to present a proposal for the full establishment of a Personnel Division within a reasonable period of taking up the position. Applicants must have extensive personnel and administrative experience. The possession of a diploma in personnel’management would be an advantage.
