A secondary activity arising from servicing and implemented at present by the department, is the design and manufacture of low volume and one-off custom built process controls for specific projects. Although it is expected that the successful applicant will hold formal qualifications of either a degree in Electrical Engineering or N.Z.C.E. (Electronics), certain requirements other than academic achievements are equally Important: — Versatility to meet the technical demands imposed by a very wide range of equipment used by clients. - The disposition to enjoy personal contact with clients at all levels of management and control. — The teaching skills required to develop the skills of technicians working under his control. - Administrative ability to process contracts and correspondence and to administer departmental costing. Although the successful applicant is expected to be involved initially in some higher level field service work, he will be given full support to expand the department, leading to a fully administrative position.
