PA Sydney The Australian dollar yesterday finished below the 90 U.S. cent level for the third day this week, under the weight of a stronger U.S. dollar offshore, dealers said. The local dollar ended the day at 89.75/82 U.S. cents, after opening around 90.00/10 U.S. cents, and compared with 90.25/35 on Wednesday. The dollar was narrowly traded for most of the day between a near-closing low of 89.75 U.S. cents and a high of 90.15/20. The Australian unit finished mixed against the other major currencies, firming to 2.4713 marks from 2.4690, little changed at 208.75 yen from 208.65 yen, and easier at 0.6423 sterling from 0.6487 sterling. On the Sydney Futures Exchange the U.S. dollar for June delivery finished firmer at 111.45 cents, from 111.15 cents.
