Mr Gair gets good report

PA Wellington The Minister of Transport, Mr Gair, is recovering well from a recent bowel operation and is expected back at work in about a month, said the Acting Prime Minister, Mr McLay, yesterday.

“He has just had a further specialist’s report which is very favourable and he hopes to be back around

about mid-June,” said Mr McLay. Mr Gair, aged 57, had a bowel tumour removed last month. The Minister of Internal Affairs, Mr Highet, who is recovering from a severe viral infection, is much better but it is still not known when he will be able to return to Parliament, Mr McLay said. Parliament begins sitting on May 31.
