Migrant suddenly rich
NZPA-Reuter New York An Ecuadorean immigrant who lives with her husband and four children in the poverty of the South .Bronx became New York’s latest millionaire yesterday.
Braulla Meneses, aged 33, who speaks no English, went forward yesterday as the fourth and final winner of last week-end’s record SUS22.I-million New York state lottery, the largest lottery jackpot in North American history. Mrs Meneses said through
a translator that she had waited an extra day to claim her winnings because, “I was too nervous and wanted to calm down.” Her husband, Sixto Arauze, aged 47, said that he would quit his job as a car mechanic because, “Now I am the boss, I don't work.”
